It is In the bosom of the family where children receive the tools they need for their future independent life. Children’s Care Emmaus supports vulnerable families to prevent them from breaking apart. We restore the parents to health and work – and give the family a home where it can live sheltered from wind, rain and cold.

Family aid means children's care

Alongside its worldwide sponsorship programs, Children’s Care Emmaus supports vulnerable families in many ways with the intention to free them from the spiral of poverty. Our family aid is a help for self-help. It is intended to give father, mother and children new courage to regain self-respect and family spirit. Wherever possible we expect the family members to become actively involved:

  • We procure building materials, tools, seeds and fertilizer, however the construction of the small brick house as well as the cultivation of the vegetable garden are to be made by the family.

  • We devote ourselves to the care of sick people and bear the costs of medical care (special treatments, operations, medication, prostheses and crutches).

  • We provide needy families with a milk cow, a sewing machine, a hand mill, etc. to enable them to earn a minimal income.

  • We engage ourselves in familiar emergencies (hygiene and health education, family planning, social work) to enable those concerned to solve existing problems by themselves.

  • We grant small interest-free loans for job creations (opening of a shop, a workshop, etc.) which – if possible – are to be paid back by small instalments as well.

Help us to help!

Family aid does not only mean that we support individual families, but also that all the initiatives and projects undertaken ultimately serve the family. Here, we present to you some of the possible ways how we assist, relieve and strengthen families. For our family aid we depend on your solidarity as well.
